10 Healthy Foods You Should Be Eating Every Day

Many of us are trying to live a healthier life. And, one of the best ways to stay healthy is eating right. If you've been eating lots of processed foods and fast food, it's time to throw those foods out and start using this healthy food list to change the way you eat for the better.

A List of 10 Healthy Foods

1. Vegetables Veggies are number one on the healthy food list because they're full of vitamins, minerals and fiber. They give you lots of nutrition on very few calories, which is a plus if you're trying to lose weight.

2. Fruits Fruits are also full of vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants. Be sure to get 4-5 servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Fruits are great for the dieter because they can satisfy your sweet tooth naturally.

3. Whole grains We should all rid our cupboards of white flour and foods made with white flour. Substituting whole grain foods instead of the white flour ones can help you get more fiber in your diet and can help keep your blood sugar stable. Whole grains also fill you up more easily, so you may eat less.

4. Protein We all need protein for building muscle and for many bodily functions. Lean proteins like chicken, turkey and lean cuts of beef and pork can help you stay healthy and help you feel full.

5. Fish Though fish is a protein, it merits its own separate mention in the healthy food list because of the Omega 3 oils it contains. Omega 3 fatty acids help speed up the metabolism and help prevent heart disease and lower cholesterol.

6. Nuts Nuts are full of nutrition, fiber and healthy fat. They make a great snack because they fill you up with just a small portion. Many experts consider nuts to be one of the most perfect foods. They are, however, high in calories, so if you're watching your weight, be careful of your portions.

7. Olive oil Olive oil should be your primary cooking fat. Olive oil helps speed up metabolism and helps prevent heart disease. It is one of the healthiest fats, and it tastes great, too.

8. Green tea- Green tea is one of the healthiest beverages you can drink. Green tea is full of anti-oxidants, which help prevent all sorts of diseases, from heart disease to cancer. And, green tea contains catechins that help speed up the metabolism.

9. Yogurt Yogurt's active cultures work wonders on the digestive tract. It prevents yeast infections and its calcium protects bones.

10. Milk - Like yogurt, milk is included on the healthy food list because of its calcium. Calcium strengthens bones and speeds metabolism. Milk also helps you feel full so that you eat less.
